Calling all WCSD parents, preK parents, homeschool parents, pediatricians, public health experts, mental health experts, child development experts, education experts, teachers, counselors, community leaders and concerned citizens! Our elected school-board trustees deserve to know how their constituents feel about what's happening in the WCSD.

ITEM 3.02
On page 7 of Attachment A are the Safe and Health Schools Commission's proposed goals for 2026-27, one of which is to review best practices around student screen time. The board will vote on whether to approve these goals.

ITEM 3.04
The board will hear a presentation on the allocation of K-5 instructional minutes, followed by a discussion. Note that there are no dedicated instructional minutes for PE and art, and not all students receive 30 minutes of recess each day.
This is our chance to demand dedicated, protected time for recess, art and PE for all our K-5 kids. Click here for talking points. Because this item is not up for a vote, public comments must be made at the end of the meeting during general public comment (Item 5.01).
ITEM 3.06
Recess for me but not for thee! The board will vote on whether to approve the plan for a new district administrative building at a cost of about $100 million. Page 22 of Attachment B cites the need for more access to nature at the new building to "enhance wellness and mood."
Public comment period prior to the vote: If your child does not receive adequate breaks for recess or PE or have access to shade, trees and grass on their playground, this is a great chance to point out the hypocrisy.
ITEM 3.08
From what we understand, this item would neuter an elected trustee’s ability to advocate on behalf of their constituents if that advocacy means seeking reversal or reconsideration of a superintendent’s decision.
Public comment period prior to the vote: Feel free to share your thoughts on this as a district constituent. Do you want your elected trustees to be able to go to bat for your child if necessary?
